You will soon be able to get wine delivered to your door through New York based meal delivery service Blue Apron.
The company was founded in 2012 with the purpose of delivering meal kits to subscribers’ homes. At varying subscription costs, users receive the kits, which include recipes and fresh, pre-washed ingredients that are pre-portioned for an easy home cooking experience.
The wine subscription is being added to further the growth of Blue Apron, which currently delivers 3 million meals a month to its customers. The company was recently valued at $2 billion after raising $135 million in funding this past June.
Those who decide to add the wine option to their meal service will pay $65.99 plus tax and shipping to receive six 500 ml bottles of wine per month. Each wine is selected by sommeliers, and will be specifically paired to Blue Apron delivered meals. The shipments will also include tasting tips and notes about where the wine comes from. Customers will have the option to skip a month or cancel at any time. The program will start off in 27 states across the U.S., but Blue Apron hopes to expand that to more over time.
